Luther Calvin was born on July 1st, 1898 in Ellison Ridge, Summers Co., W Va.1 Luther Calvin's father was Isaac Edmond Basham and his mother was Malinda Elizabeth Harvey. His paternal grandparents were William Blane Basham and Juliana Lydia Lilly; his maternal grandparents were Jonathan Calvin Harvey and Mary Elizabeth Unknown. He had two brothers and five sisters, named William Arthur, Monnie Beatrice, Anna Belle, Mary Etta, Mertie Melissa, Charlotte Elizabeth and Macy Lee. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had two half-sisters named Dolly Faye (Twin) and Willie May (Twin). He died at the age of 70 on December 29th, 1968 in Charleston, Kanawha Co., W Va.1 General Notes
