John Floyd was born about 1812 in Monroe Co., Virginia.1 John Floyd's father was Nathaniel Basham and his mother was Elender (Ellen) Ross. His paternal grandparents were Archibald Basham and Winna Jons; his maternal grandparents are John Ross and Elenor Mitchell. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Sylvester, Benjamin, Hillory H., Ellis L., Cena, Eleanor and Mary E.. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died after 1880 in Probably Floyd Co Virginia.1 General Notes
