Greene Berry Basham 
Greene Berry was born on November 29th, 1835 in Alabama.1 Greene Berry's father was Pleasant (Rev) Basham and his mother was Matilda Miller. His paternal grandparents were John C. Basham and Parthena Unknown. He had six brothers and three sisters, named John M., Leroy J. (Tony), Fountain Fletcher, Henry Baskam, William Pleasant, Charles W., Female Child, Cinthia J and Sarah Ann B.. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 63 on October 29th, 1899 in Trinity Center, Trinity Co., Calif.1 General Notes

Green Berry Bassham, an old and respected resident of the county, pa
ss ed away at his residence in Trinity Center on the 29th October. He h
ad be en ill for a long time with lung trouble and the immediate cau
se of his de ath was a hemorrhage caused by a severe spell of coughing.
The deceased was born in Alabama nearly sixty-five years ag
o. He ca me to California across the plains with his brother and about 18
58 was mar ried in Shasta County to Eliza Conway, who survives him.
Ten children were the result of this union, six of whom are living, nam
el y, E. H. (Bert), Frank A. and William P. Bassham and three daughter
s, Mr s. P. (Gertrude) McDonald, Mrs George (Florence) Hall, and Miss Ed
na Bassh am, all of Trinity Center. He also leaves a brother, H. B. Bassh
am of Duns muir. He moved from Shasta County to Weaverville in 1869, and r
esided in t his place until 1882, when he moved to Trinity Center. Since t
his da te he has made the later place his home.
