Frederick J. was born about 1906 in Leitchfield, Grayson Co., Kentucky.1 Frederick J.'s father was William Logan Basham and his mother was Mollie Leslie. His paternal grandparents were George W. Basham and Barbara A (Polly) Crutchelow; his maternal grandparents are John Leslie and Louise Unknown. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William (Bill), Hobert Wesley, Joseph (Joe), Oral M., Leona and Louise C.. He was the second youngest of the seven children.
