Eugene C (Gene) was born on December 6th, 1891 in Hancock Co., Kentucky.1 Eugene C (Gene)'s father was Jeremiah Henderson Basham and his mother was Sarah Ellen Higgs. His paternal grandparents were Cary Jackson 'Jack' Basham and Annis Warner; his maternal grandparents were Alfred Higgs and Sarah Jane Calloway. He had ten brothers and six sisters, named Finous, Harvey, Hilous, Benjamin Harrison (Ben), Eulace, Edward Otis, Ruthford, Flora, Chester, Harold, Bertha S., Pearl, Carrie, Essie, Anna Lee and Clara Louise. He was the eighth oldest of the seventeen children. He had a half-sister named Mary Jane. He died at the age of 78 on October 24th, 1970 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo Co., N Mex.1 General Notes
