Dessi was born on November 24th, 1910 in Woodbury, Cannon Co., Tennessee.1 Dessi's father was Alexander Basham and her mother was Rebecca Jane (Bettie) Young. Her paternal grandparents were Alvis Basham and Sarah A. Wilson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Arther, Thurma, Bertha and Vernie. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at the age of 85 on February 24th, 1996.1 General Notes
