Her paternal grandparents were James Henry Basham and Mary O. (Molly) Higgs. She had six brothers and a sister, named Infant Child, Infant Child, Infant Child, Marion Adolphus, Jr., Hugh Triplett, Living and Living. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Walker Hayden, Oscar Clair, Ines, Mary Emma and Bertha 'Louise'.
