Burnice Festus was born on May 9th, 1874 in Fordsville, Ohio Co., Kentucky.1 Burnice Festus' father was Eli Houston Basham and his mother was Nancy Melvina Fitzeleanor McCoy. His paternal grandparents were James Herrod Basham and Polly Ann Arms. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named David Houston, James Gideon, Albert Alford, Erastus Finley, Ellard Randell, Atticas Inlap, Garfield Ollie, Vizella Ellen, Mehitabel Enfield, Charity Marguerite and Opal Effie.
