He first app ea rs in the 1830 census for Campbell County, Tennessee with a wife and s ix c hildren. In the 1840 census, he is in Fountain County, Indiana witho ut a w ife and five children. It is assumed that his first wife had di ed by th is time and at least one of the sons, George had married by th is time. Arc hibald remarried in Fountain County Indiana in 1844 to Elizab eth Murphy a nd two children Henry and Clara were born of this marriage. B ut apparent ly all was not well because in the 1850 census, Archibald a nd Elizabeth a re living separately, he with several of his children and s he with an appa rent sister-in-law and the two youngest children of her ma rriage to Archib ald. Archibald apparently moved his family from Tenness ee to Indiana betwe en 1830 and 1832.
Archibald (Archer) and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on February 17th, 1844 in Fountain Co., Indiana.1 They had a son and a daughter, named Henry and Clara.
