Ada Ethyl was born on July 24th, 1889 in Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.1 Ada Ethyl's father was Robert Hugh Basham and her mother was Catherine Mahalia (May) Martin. Her paternal grandparents were William Blane Basham and Juliana Lydia Lilly. She had a brother named Roy Lesley. She was the older of the two children. She had nine half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Gracie May, Gilbert Ezra, Charles William, George Wesley (Twin), James Herford (Twin), Michael Fenton, Joseph Dale, Luther Bee, Sarah Marie, Bertha Lee, Clara Bell, Nellie Rose, Elizabeth Lillian, Ruby Pearl and Edith Garnet. She died at the age of 72 on September 14th, 1961 in Coal City, Raleigh Co., W Virginia.1 General Notes
