Richard E. was born on January 5th, 1854 in Rivesville,WV. Richard E.'s father was Burr Merrill and his mother was Malinda Morris. His maternal grandparents were Richard Morris and Susanna Stull. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Tazwell Cleone, Judson Carman, Lineas Leroy, Joseph Alvah, John Franklin, Ann Judson, Myrtle, Caroline and Ida Eliza. He was the fourth youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 52 on November 12th, 1906 in Rivesville,WV.-
