Cane Ridge Meetinghouse

Cane Ridge Meetinghouse, built in 1791, is the site of the origination of the Christian Church and Christian (Disciples of Christ) denominations during the Great Revival of 1801. That summer, more than 20 Presbyterian, Baptist and Methodist preachers met at the Cane Ridge Presbyterian meeting house, preaching throughout the days and nights from wagon beds and tree stumps to congregations of more than 20,000.
Thought to be the largest one-room log structure in the country.

He was born in Mount Vernon, GA on May 15, 1888. He graduated from the University of KY and from the Lexington Theological Seminary. He was a star tackle on the Transylvania football team. He served Christian churches in AL, GA, and KY. He died on Feb 15, 1936, at the age of 48 from cancer of the colon ans was buried in Newport, KY.
