John was born in 1752 in York Co.,PA. John's father was John B. Blackburn and his mother was Nancy Maxwell. His paternal grandparents were Archibald Blackburn and Margaret Wilson. He had four brothers and a sister, named Samuel, James, Robert, William D. and Hannah. He was the third oldest of the six children.
