Woman Seriously Hurt When Hit by Auto in Newport
Mrs. Susan BAUMGARTNER, 69, of 819 Central-av, Newport, was injured, probably fatally, Saturday when struck by an auto at Ninth-st and Central-av, Newport.
The victim suffered a possible skull fracture and numerous bruises and cuts about her head and body.
The auto which struck the woman was driven by Howard GOSNEY, Cold Springs, police were told. GOSNEY told police Mrs. BAUMGARTNER walked to the middle of the intersection and, seeing his auto, became confused and darted directly into the path of his car.
Fred SCHNELLE, 641 Lexington-av, who was passing at the time of the accident, removed the victim to Booth Hospital, Covington.
Mrs. BAUMGARTNER was on her way home after attending mass at the Corpus Christi Church.
The victim is the wife of William BAUMGARTNER and mother of Ray BAUMGARTNER, printer employed on The Post.

The auto, police said, was driven by Howard GOSNEY, Cold Springs."
