William was born on December 20th, 1757 in Horse Pasture, , North Carolina, USA.1   William's father was James Skaggs and his mother is Mary Thompson.  His paternal grandparents were James Skaggs and Rachel Susannah Moredock. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, Stephen, James, Rachel and Skaggs.  He died at the age of 90 on August 20th, 1848 in Brush Creek, Green, Kentucky, USA.2 


William's first family with Mary Simpson

‌William and Mary were married in a religious ceremony in 1778 in , , Virginia, USA.3   They had three daughters named Elizabeth Or Betty, Polly and Nancy.


William's second family with Polly Pierce

‌William and Polly were married in a religious ceremony on September 2nd, 1802 in , Green County, Kentucky, USA.5  They had five sons and five daughters, named William, Fielding Or Fields, Jeremiah, Stephen, Henry, Rachel, Libby, Jane, Louisa and Eliza.
