His paternal grandparents were Richard Skaggs and Mary Thear; his maternal grandfather was Abraham Moredock. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Henry, John, Moses, James, Charles, Jacob, Susannah, Elizabeth Or Betsy, Lydia and Nancy. He died at the age of 74 in 1818 in , , Barren, Kentucky, USA.1 -
