Hester was born on December 24th, 1893 in Ameter Villiage, , Grayson , Kentucky, USA.1 Hester's father was George B. McClellan Skaggs and her mother was Letitia Ellen Spencer. Her paternal grandparents were John Witten Skaggs and Susan Westfall Keller; her maternal grandparents were Elliott Spencer and Margaret Ellen or Maggie Toole. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Virgil, Charles, Ivan, Blaine, Wayne, Florence and Stella. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 86 on January 21st, 1980. She was buried in Rock Creek Cemetery In Grayson County, Kentucky.2 General Notes
