Thomas M. SCOTT
A most remarkable soul was that of Thomas M. SCOTT, who passed through the portals into the Great Beyond a the close of the beautiful day, January 31, 1917, at the home of his son, David P. SCOTT of 720 Tenth street. The deceased had a wide circle of friends in this city who will regret to learn of his death.
Mr. SCOTT was born and raised near Harrisonville, this county. He was born in 1843, being over 73 years of age at the time of the final summons. Mr. SCOTT had been ill for many months. He bore his sufferings bravely, believing in his Maker until the end and it was well with him when the end came. Mr. SCOTT followed the trade of carpenter for a number of years.
His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth SCOTT, two daughters and a son, preceded him to the grave. He leaves to mourn his death four sons, David P., Thomas and Burt of this city, Floyd of California and two daughters, Mrs. Albert CRAWFORD of this city and Mrs. Clinton SCHAEFFER of Westerville, O. He also leaves four brothers, Perry and Uriah of Ironton, Robert and Jeff in the West and two sisters, Mrs. Manda RAINER, of Munn's Run, and one in the West. He also leaves thrity-six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The deceased was a member of the Ninety-First Regiment, Company F. O. V. I. and fought in the Civil War. Mr. SCOTT was also a member of the First Baptist church for a number of years.
The funeral will be held from the home, 720 Tenth street, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock.
