Her paternal grandparents were John SCHWAMBERGER and Philimena HERBST; her maternal grandparents were Henry CROUSE and Mary WEINCHECK. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Wilson, Ralph, Mary Evelyn, Regina and Helen Darlene. She was the oldest of the six children.
