Mrs. August MAIER Gives a Unique Reception to Her Widowed Friends - Mrs. henry HALL Received Tuesday Afternoon - Other Minor Events.

Mrs. August MAIER, assisted by her daughter, Miss Theresia, charmingly entertained a number of her friends at her elegant residence, on West Sixth street, near Market, Tuesday afternoon and evening, the hours being from 2 o'clock until 10:30 o
clock.
The invitations were limited to the widowed friends of the hostess, cards being sent to twenty eight ladies. Those who were present were: Mrs. KRICKER, Mrs. Sadie KRICKER, Mrs. LLEGLER, Mrs. HART, Mrs. REITZ, Mrs. VOELLMER, Mrs. FINDEIS, Mrs. STAMM, Mrs. WEICHERS, Mrs. BAUER, Mrs. Mary BALMERT(?), Mrs. LEHMAN, Mrs. MOHR, Mrs. AUGLIE, Mrs. WARHEIT, Mrs. BEST, Mrs. LENARTZ and Mrs. Charles WEBBER.
The afternoon and evening were pleasantly spent playing progressive (?)euchre and domino. The first prize at the euchre tables was won by Mrs. Charles WEBBER, the prize being a handsome pair of china vases, while Mrs. Sadie KRICKER carried off the booby prize, a night lamp. Mrs. WARHEIT proved to be the best domino player and was presented a handsome large lamp.
At 5:30 an elegant lunch was served to the guests in the dining room. Refreshments were also served at 9:30 o'clock. The party was indeed a most delightful affair, each of the guests having a pleasant and enjoyable time.
Mrs. MAIER will entertain again next Wednesday eveving at cards.

Mrs. FREDERICK Passes Away
Priest At Marrige Will Officiate At Last Rites On Thursday

Death at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Mercy hospital claimed mrs. Theresa MAIER FREDERICK, 59, wife of Pius J. FREDERICK, 506 Sixth Street, following an immediate illness of the last two weeks. She had been a patient at the hospital for the eight days and her death was attributed to diabetes and complications.
Funeral services will be conducted at St. Mary's church at 8:30 a.m. Thursday with Monsignor Gerdes of Middletown, who united Mr. and Mrs. FREDERICK in marriage, officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Fr. T. A. GOEBEL, pastor of St. Mary's, Rev. Fr. John DUNNE ----------------------------- (unable to read) Mary's cemetery in Greenlawn under the direction of Al Melcher.
Mrs. FREDERICK was born in Cincinnati on May 15, 1875 and was a daughter of August and Rosa MAIER, poineer residents of Portsmouth. The family returned to this city shortly after her birth and she had resided here ever since. She attended St. Mary's schools. She was united in marriage to Pius J. FREDERICK on May 5, 1904 and four children were born to them.
Mrs. FREDERICK was a faithful member of St. Mary's church and of the Altar and Rosary society and Catholic Ladies of Coumbia.
She is survived by her husband and children; Rozene, Marcella, August and Ursula at home. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Mary LEHMAN of New York City and Mrs. W. H. PAYNE of Cincinnati and one brother, Albert MAIER of this city.
Members of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, 162 and 163, and the Altar and Rosary society will meet at the FREDERICK home Wednesday at 7 p.m.
