Charles KIRBY
Charles A. KIRBY, 81, of Eden Park, a former resident of Argonne Road, Portsmouth, died Monday, May 4, 1992, at a Cincinnati hospital.
Born Nov. 8, 1910, in Portsmouth, a son of the late William and Anna BUSL KIRBY, he was the owner of the former Kirby-Kraft Flower Shop, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its Intercessory Prayer Group, and several antique car clubs. He was featured on the television show "60 Minutes" for his achievements in refurbishing antique cars.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey BURKHART KIRBY; five sons, Daniel KIRBY, Tim KIRBY and Ben KIRBY, all of Portsmouth, Patrick KIRBY of Columbus and Ted KIRBY of Jackson; eight daughters, Carolyn KIRBY of Ridgewood, N.J., Coleen KARWISCH and Cathy Kreis, both of Cincinnati, Connie SHARP of Kansas City, Mo., Claudia BIHL and Christine BIHL, both of Franklin Furnace, Claire STANCIK of Charleston, W.Va., and Calista McHENRY of Fairborn; a brother, Richard KIRBY of Portsmouth; a sister Gertrude McBRIDE of Cincinnati; 37 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
He also was preceded in death by three daughters, Colette STANCIK, and Candy and Camilla KIRBY; a brother, John KIRBY; and three sisters, Grace REED, Mary BURLING and Margaret BODNER.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Portsmouth, with the Rev. William MAROON officiating, and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Melcher Funeral Home in Portsmouth, where recitation of rosary will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

‌Charles A. and Audrey were married in a religious ceremony after April 1st, 1930. They had five sons and eleven daughters, named Ben, Daniel, Patrick, Ted, Tim, Calista, Camilla, Candy, Carolyn, Cathy, Christine, Claire, Claudia, Coleen, Colette and Connie.
