His paternal grandparents were Edwin or Ned BRASHEAR and Nancy WATKINS; his maternal grandparents were George Washington UPTON and Martha Elizabeth FLANDERS. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named Clarence, Jesse, Robert, Grover, Winnie or Minnie, Ora, Ada, Agnes, Clara, Ruby, Emma and Daisy. He was the fifth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 76 on March 18th, 1951 in , Larue, Kentucky, USA. He was buried in Big Spring Cemetery in Upton, Hardin, Kentucky.1 2 General Notes
