Darius Clay was born on April 5th, 1854 in , Grayson, Kentucky, USA.1 Darius Clay's father was Lewis W. Hackley and his mother was Margaret E. Wortham. His paternal grandfather is Samuel Ball Hackley; his maternal grandparents were Charles E. Wortham and Nancy Ewing. He had four brothers and five sisters, named James W., Charles Samuel, John Thomas, Joseph E., Nancy Catherine, Martha Jane, Mary Ann, Lucretia Frances and Hannah Belle. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 79 on December 30th, 1933 in Sunnel Hill, Hardin, Kentucky, USA.
