Jacob FOEHR
Friends of Jacob Foehr will be pained to learn of his death, the final summons coming to the former well known Portsmouth resident. Tuesday morning in St. Francis hospital, Cincinnati. Mr. FOEHR was suffering with cancer of the stomach which caused death. He was in the hospital one week.
George FOEHR a son of this city returned Monday from his father's bedside, and relatives were notified of his dangerous condition. News of the death was expected by the relatives but the large number of friends knew nothing of Mr. FOEHR's serious illness until today, and were shocked to hear the death news which reached the city Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased came to Portsmouth from the old country. He was a young man and engaged in the blacksmithing business the greater part of his life. From the time he first settled here until four years ago Portsmouth was his home. Four years ago he left for Norwood to live with daughters. Mrs. FOEHR died nine years ago. Mr. FOEHR was 70 years of age at the time of death. He was a member of the German Evangelical church.
The deceased leaves two sons, George, of 1409 Union Street, Jacob, Jr., of Columbus and two daughters, Mrs. Anna BURLING and Mrs. Lizzie FUNK of Norwood, Cincinnati.
The body will be brought to this city Wednesday afternoon. The funeral will probably be held at ten o'clock Thursday morning from the German Evangelical church with Rev. Samuel LINDENMEYER officiating. Interment will be made in Greenlawn.
