John DELABAR
John Michael DELABAR, 83, of Rushtown, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital where he had been a patient a week. Death was caused by a heart attack.
Mr. DELABAR was born 26 Feb 1876, at Wheelersburg, a son of Soffard and Mary DODGE DELABAR. His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
Nov. 2, 1904, he married Minnie A. SIMPSON who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Charles S., 1715 Robinson Aven., Roger A. of Dayton, Joseph E., 1626 Highland Ave., Robert A., 1537 Sixth St., and John D. of Rushtown; a daughter, Mrs. Mary A. WAMSLEY of Otway; 21 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. DELABAR was a graduate of St. Vincent College at Pittsburgh and St. Leo's College at Dade City, Fla. He was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and a retired mail carrier.
He was a former member of the board of directors of the Scioto County Tuberculosis Council, the Cancer Society.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and Holy Trinity Church at Pond Creek. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus.
Solemn Requiem Mass is to be held at Holy Redeemer Church Thursday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Hubert RUBECK officiating. Burial is to be in Rushtown Cemetery under direction of Melcher Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home where recitation of the rosary is to be held Wednesday at 8 p.m.
