James was born on June 28th, 1863 in , Greenup, Kentucky, USA.1 James' father was Reuben CRAYCRAFT and his mother was Barbara Ann GREENSLATE. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William G., Charles R., John D., Benjamin W., Garfield Harrison, Susan Jane, Sarah E., Barbara Ann and Mary Ella. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 72 on August 23rd, 1935 in , Scioto, Ohio, USA.1 General Notes
