Mary Jane was born on June 7th, 1838 in , Meade or Hardin, Kentucky, USA.1 Mary Jane's father was Henry Buckles and her mother was Mary Ann or Anna Greenwalt. Her paternal grandparents were John Buckles and Frances Wallingford; her maternal grandfather is John Greenawalt Sr. and her maternal grandmother was Rachel Logsdon. She had five brothers and five sisters, named James, Augustine D., William Henry, Isaac, William, Eliza, Rachel, Millie E., Malinda and Phebe. She was the fifth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 80 on June 30th, 1918 in Nelson, Muhlenberg, Kentucky, USA. She was buried on July 1st, 1918 in Nelson Creek, Nelson, Muhlenberg, Kentucky.2 3 General Notes

Be it known, That we, D. B. CRIJER(?) as principal, and William BUCKLES as surety, are jointly and severally bound to the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the sum of One Hundred Dollars.
The Condition of this Bond is as follows:
That, whereas Marriage is intended to be solemnized between the above bound D. B. CRIJER (?) and Miss Mary Jane BUCKLES.
Now, if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, this Bond shall be void, otherwise it shall remain in full force and effect.
Dated at Brandenburg, Meade County, this 10th Day of December 1866.
