General Notes

Isabella was the queen of Edward II and daughter of Philipp
e IV of France.  Isabella had become the lover of Roger Mor
timer and between them, they plotted the downfall and deat
h of Edward II. Her son, Edward III subsequently had her an
d Mortimer arrested. Mortimer was executed whilst Isabell
a was forced to remain at Castle Rising in Norfolk where sh
e was held in almost perpetual detention from April 1330 un
til her death on 22 August 1358.
