Robert was born about 1386 in Preston Plucknet, Somerset, England. Robert's father was John DE STOURTON and his mother was Jane BASSET. His paternal grandparents were William DE STOURTON and Jane VERNON; his maternal grandfather was Ralph BASSET. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Roger, Richard, Edmund, Huskin, John, Elizabeth and Mary. He was the oldest of the eight children.-
