Valeran's father was Hugh VII DE LUSIGNAN and his mother was Sarazene UNKNOWN.  His paternal grandparents were Hugh VI DE LUSIGNAN and Ildegarde UNKNOWN. He had four brothers and a sister, named Hugh VIII, Rorgues, Simon, William and Aimee.
