His paternal grandparents were Louis DE BRIENNE and Agnes DE BEAUMONT; his maternal grandparents were Alexander (Sir) DE COMYN and Joan DE LATIMER. He had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas (Count), Catherine, Isabel, Joan and Elizabeth. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John, Thomas, Catherine, Isbael and Joan.
