William COURTENAY 
William was born in 1628 in Of Powderham, Devonshire and his baptism took place on September 7th, 1628.1 William's father was Francis COURTENAY and his mother was Elizabeth SEYMOUR. His paternal grandparents were William COURTENAY and Elizabeth MANNERS; his maternal grandparents were Edward SEYMOUR and Dorothy KILLIGREW. He had three brothers and a sister, named Edward, Francis, James and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the five children.
