Peter LaFair's parents were from France as indicated in the 1880 Census, Gibson County, IN. I believe they have the name listed as LaFais or something similar. Peter and Margaret were married 14 February 1865 in Gibson County, Indiana. I do not have Peter's parents, however, Margaret McNeece was the the daughter of Josiah and Matilda Mills McNeece. Josiah and Matilda were married 31 August 1837 in Lawrence County, Illinois. Josiah's parents were Allen G. and Martha Mullins McNeece.
I have not found parents for Allen G. McNeece but several researchers have the name of Martha Mullins' father listed as William (son of John and Susannah Morton)with an unknown mother.
Matilda's parents were Edward P. and Abigail Howard Mills. Edward's parents were Thomas and Lydia Wilson Mills. Thomas was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. He and Lydia raised their children in Lawrence County, Illinois.
Lydia Wilson was the daughter of John Wilson, Sr and Lydia Ann Thatcher. John is listed in the DAR Patriot Index.
Abigail Howard was the daughter of William and Leticia Thorn Howard.
Margaret had several sisters and two brothers. Sisters: Sira Nevada McNeece m. Joe Eugene Sturgeon; Armina Minerva McNeece m. Charles Peachey; Martha Ellen McNeece m. Thomas Marion Thorne; Bedford Lawson McNeece m. Lectia Donham; and Albert McNeece m. Sarah Cain. Josiah and Matilda had several other females listed in their household (various census) including Amy, Naomi, S., and Joanna. I am not sure if they were daughters or nieces. Josiah also took care of his brothers' children. There is also a Mary McNeece who is frequently in the household. She married Willis Nichols. I am hestitant to include her as a daughter because of the year she was born, abt. 1835, which would be two years before Josiah and Matilda were married. Matilda would have been abt 15 when she was born. Matilda was born 21 March 1820 in Bond Township, Lawrence County, Illinois.
