Richard was born about 1400 in Clayton, Lancashire, England. Richard's father was John Byron and his mother was Margery Booth. His paternal grandparents were Sir Richard Byron and Joan De Colewick; his maternal grandparents were Sir John Booth and Joan Trafford. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Sir Nicholas, Ralph, Jane, Margaret, Helena and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the seven children.-
