Cadwygn Ap was born about 1050. Cadwygn Ap's father was Bleddyn ap Cynvyn and his mother was Haer Verch Cynyllyn. His paternal grandparents were Cynfyn ap Gwerystan and Angharad Verch Maredydd; his maternal grandfather was Cynyllyn ap Blai. He had a brother named Maredydd Powys ap. He was the younger of the two children.General Notes
Cadwgan the Renowned, the last Prince of Powys, Lord of Nanau in Merioneth. He was treacherously slain at Welsh Pool in 1109. His second wife was a daughter of Lord Picot de Say, a Companion of William the Conqueror.
