Sophia Trevilian was born on January 24th, 1797 in Hanover County, Virginia. Sophia Trevilian's father was John Anderson and her mother was Mary Trevilian. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Anderson and Frances Jones Harrod; her maternal grandmother was Sophia Terry. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas Bates, Edmund Monroe, Prof. Harrod John, John Montgomery, Horace Franklin, Eliza, Mary Trevilian, Frances Virginia and Lucy Ann. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.-
