Aelfthryth of's father was Alfred the Great and her mother was Lady Alswitha or Ealhswith. Her paternal grandparents were UNKNOWN Aethelwulf and UNKNOWN Osburh; her maternal grandfather was Earl Aethelred of Mercia and Eadburh. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named The Elder and UNKNOWN.
‌Aelfthryth of and II, Count of Flanders were married in a religious ceremony in 0884. They had a son named I, The Great, Count of FlandersI.
