Banished from Norway to the Hebrides ca 876. Participated in the Viking attack on Bayeux in 890 where Count Berenger of Bayeux was killed, and his daughter, Poppa captured and taken (886) as his "Danish" wife. Under Treaty of St. Claire, 911, he received the Duchy of Normandy from Charles III "the Simple."
