Thursa was born about 1815 in Franklin,Shelby County,KY. Thursa's father was George W. Rodgers and her mother was Elizabeth Pierson. Her maternal grandparents were Meshack Pierson and Mary Jennings. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named Nicholas, Charles, Willis, Alfred R., Achilles, William M., Samuel, Daniel, John, Nedelie, Mahala, Betsy and Sarah. She died after 1880.-
