Nancy was born on December 12th, 1807 in Reddies River,Wilkes County,NC. Nancy's father was William McQueary and her mother was Nancy Ann Shepherd. Her paternal grandparents were John Macquarrie and Miranda Stout; her maternal grandparents were Robert Shepherd and Sarah Rash. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Allen, Pleasant, Jesse, William, Humphry, Polly, Sarah and Rebeccah. She was the second youngest of the ten children.-
