Mathilda?'s father was Louis I 'the Fair, the Pious' King of France, Holy Roman Emp and her mother was Ermengarde of Hesbaye.  Her paternal grandparents were Charlemagne King of France and Hildegarde Countess of Linzgau; her maternal grandfather was Ingram Count of Hasbania. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Lothar I King of Italy, Holy Roman Emperor, Louis II 'the German' King of the East Franks, Adele(Adelaide) Princess of and Hildegarde of. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Charles II 'the Bald' King of France and Gisela Princess of France and the West.
