Her paternal grandparents were Louis IV 'd'Outremere' King of France and Gerberge of Princess of Germany Saxony; her maternal grandparents were Godfrey 'the Captive' Count of Verdun and Bidgau d'Ardennes and Mathilda of Saxony. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Othon Duke Of Lower, Eudes Duke Of Lower, Ermengarde (Adelaide) of and Ermengarde (Adelaide) Princess Of. She was the second youngest of the five children.
