Samuel , Sr. was born in Rowan Co.,NC. Samuel , Sr.'s father was John Knox and his mother was Jean Gracey. His paternal grandparents were Ad Knox and Margaret Brock; his maternal grandparents were John O'Gracey and Jean Sinclair. He had six brothers and a sister, named William, Absalom, John , Jr., Joseph, James, Benjamin and Mary. He died about 1835 in Jackson Co.,GA.General Notes
