Mathilda Kilby 
Mathilda was born in 1814 in Wilkes County,North Carolina. Mathilda's father was Abraham Kilby and her mother was Mary Elizabeth (Betsey) Rash. Her paternal grandparents were William Kilby and Frances Eddins; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Rash and Mildred (Milly) Isbell. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James Linville, William Haynes, Abraham, Sarah, Lucinda Virginia and Frances. She was the second youngest of the seven children.-
