Solomon ruled Israel for 40 years. God called him Jedidiah meaning "beloved of Jehovah" (II Samuel 12:25). Solomon asked the Lord to make him wise enough to rule the people. The Lord was pleased with his request and not only gave Solomon wisdom, but also wealth, honor and a long life. Solomon also built the temple in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. Later in life, Solomon's foreign wives persuaded him to turn away from God.
