Nancy Anne was born in 1764 in Lunenburg County,Virginia. Nancy Anne's father was Joseph Gentry and her mother was Agnes Shelton. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Gentry and Ann Allen; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Shelton and Lucy Austin. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, William, Shelton, Elizabeth, Agnes, Judith, Sarah and Susannah. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
