John Tate Finley 
John Tate was born in 1801 in Greenville,Augusta County,Virginia. John Tate's father was Samuel Finley and his mother was Mary Tate. His paternal grandparents were Michael Finley and Mary Waugh. He had two brothers and four sisters, named William, Samuel Brown, Marie Waugh, Jane Tate, Caroline Ellen and Lavinia. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 47 in 1848 in Holly Springs,Mississippi.-
