Notes for ANDREW FINLAY:
Is mentioned in a Royal Charter dated August 3, 1366:"Confirmatory
Charter of the Prior of Rousknot, that Andrew Finlay, son of William
Finlay, and Andrew Dempster, the uncle of the said Andrew and John Finlay
of Cullace, portioners of Menmur, in Perthshire, confirm the gift of an
annual of eight pounds of goods, as tithe of the lands of Menmur, Perth,
to the Prior and Canons of Rousknot, given at Kennelli, October 8, 1360,
confirmed August, 1366." "Grant of King Robert II, to Andrew Finlay, of
certain feesfor exercising the office of Sheriffdom, Perth, amercements
granted to Andrew and his heirs to be held as their fees, hereditary
forever, confirmed at Kyndrocht, July 9, 1379." Andrew Finlay had married
Marjorie McDonald, niece and co-heir of John McDonald, of Perth.
