Martha F Butts 
Martha F was born on February 2nd, 1816. Martha F's father was Thomas Newgent Butts and her mother was Catherine Gaines Broaddus. Her maternal grandparents were James Gaines Broaddus and Mary Ann Ferguson. She had three brothers and four sisters, named James M, William Mason, Thomas E, Ellen N, Ann Elizabeth, Julia Amanda and Sarah C. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
‌Martha F and Washington were married in a religious ceremony in 1839.
