King of England WILLIAM I the CONQUEROR's father was Duke of Normandy 6th Robert I the Devil of Normandy and his mother was Herleva (Arlette) Officer of the Household. His paternal grandparents were Duke of Normandy 4th Richard II the Good of Normandy and Judith of BRITTANY. He was an only child. Reigned 1066-1087. Duke of Normandy 1035-1087. Invaded Englanddefeated and killed his rival Harold at the Battle of Hastings andbecame King.
